![]() Thus, Don’t Starve isn’t the most tightly designed title out there, its unique gameplay offerings can be easily circumvented, and there’s a lot of irritating elements to it that hold it back from being a genuinely great survival experience. That however, meant I could access the majority of the game’s content with no problem, which unsurprisingly led to me quickly losing interest in it. Eventually, I found out I could simply turn a lot of the annoying elements off in the world presets menu which erased most of the challenge and allowed me to pretty much do my exploring and crafting in peace. I wasn’t a big fan of the randomly generated map – the RNG is way too cruel in this game, as it was spawning vital crafting components way too few and far between quite often. Learning how to survive in its unforgiving world was a struggle but I was compelled to keep going to see what else there was there. While it was new to me, I had a fairly enjoyable, if somewhat frustrating time with it. It feels like an obscure PS2 title stuck in limbo for over a decade, and I can see how somebody could enjoy it – hell, I love plenty of trash games – but unsurprisingly, I didn’t like Devil’s Third.Īs is the case with all survival games that I’ve played, Don’t Starve’s seemingly endless gameplay loop can only be fun for so long – eventually, once you’ve run out of all the interesting content it has on offer, you suddenly have no reason to keep playing it. Environments are drab, characters are flat, the world is bland nothing about this game is worthy of note – except maybe Itagaki’s clear obsession with military equipment, I guess. Devil’s Third is incredibly inconsistent in its quality: it has some decent moments here and there, but most of the time it’s just a poorly put together first-person shooter with some messy melee combat thrown in, and it’s simply not fun in any way. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end: this game is among the worst-reviewed Wii U titles of all time, and for a good reason. You might be wondering why the infamous Devil’s Third didn’t take the crown for the worst game I’ve ever played, but believe it or not, unlike Earthlock or Darksiders, it actually runs okay, at least. What an absolute embarrassment of a release. Suffice to say, there was no way I could appreciate what it had to offer, be it the characters, story, or the world this game is so bad on a technical level Nintendo refunded it for me. My experience with this title ended in a game-breaking bug which rendered any further progress impossible. Shoddy framerate, laggy animations during combat, horrendous loading times – you name it, Earthlock has it. A classic turn-based jRPG, it can crash at any point making you lose tons of progress because there are no checkpoints in it. So, without further ado, join me on this journey through the memories of a happier time, as I discuss the games I played in 2017.Īn homage to the esteemed Final Fantasy titles from the 90s, Earthlock: Festival of Magic is the most broken Wii U game I have ever played. I’ll feature every single game I played this year which includes both new titles and replays like last time, but instead of simply listing them in the order of release, I’ll arrange them from worst to best, to keep things interesting. This is the third time I’m doing a “year in review” sort of thing (and a prequel, no less!), so I’m going to approach it a little differently this time around. Having just upgraded to a premium black model with a whooping 25GB of storage (whoa!), I spent my 2017 rebuilding my library of games for it after I’d sold it all a year prior for budgetary reasons, and boy was it a wild ride. The Wii U was the only console I had in 2017, and despite the fact its time on this Earth had come to a close at the very beginning of that year, I’ve had a blast gaming on it. ![]() Against all odds, I’ll remember this system for years to come, for it’s brought me a wealth of invaluable experiences, some of which I will share in this article. ![]() ![]() As morbid as that sounds, the Wii U’s passing from the world led to a better future – a future in which it is forgotten by all, save for a few people like me. Not to dwell too much on that, but seeing how much joy its grim end brought people as the Switch rose from its ashes and effortlessly captured everyone’s attention was heartbreaking. Yes, not everything was sunshine and rainbows, sadly – 2017 also marked the death year of the Wii U, a console very dear to my heart. Well, unless you happened to be a Wii U owner like me, that is. The sheer breadth of high-quality titles we got was unlike anything we’ve seen this entire generation it was truly incredible. We had an abundance of hardware releases, tons of exciting news and announcements, and of course a plethora of shiny new games to gawk at. ![]() ![]() Oh, and there was that minor snafu when Biden's dogs were removed (then brought back) from the White House after Major nipped a worker in the White House. ![]() ( Reuters: Kevin Lamarque)Īnd the policy Achilles Heel of the Democratic Party already reared its head, with immigration being at the centre of two of the biggest problems of Biden's early days in office.Ī surge in migrants at the US southern border left the administration scrambling to expand the capacity to house migrant children.īiden was forced to walk back plans to lift the cap on refugees allowed to resettle in the US, breaking a campaign pledge and keeping in place the cap set by Trump. There were and still are some exceptions, most notable of them being, of course, the T 67 which isn't even on this list (spoiler), but these exceptions usually get nerfed sooner or later (does anyone remember the "old" Marder II or Hellcat?). stat padders usually use overpowered, low tier, premium tanks, like Pz 2 J (this is one of the reasons why premium tanks are excluded from this list) to raise their win rate, and even if a tech tree tank is used for stat padding, its overall statistics will be diluted because of the sheer amount of casual players playing at the lower tiers its a matter of proportion really - low tier op premium tanks are played almost exclusively by stat padders, while overpowered tanks that are available in the tech tree are played mostly by casuals, because casuals are the largest part of WoT community. You may point out that stat padding win rating is as, if not more, common than padding WN8, and you would be right, but. WN8 rating doesn't always reflect that, because it encourages selfish play and so-called stat padding. Your average win rate should reflect the impact your tank has on the outcome of a battle, and it should be higher in more powerful vehicles. When you're in a World of Tanks random battle, your main goal should be to help your team in beating the enemy and you shouldn't resort to playing for WN8 if the outcome of the game isn't already decided. My reasoning is: Team-based games are meant to be played to win. I will do my best to explain why I chose this stat over WN8 for example (which will not stop me from writing down average global WN8 as well). in short: because it shows what an "average" player can achieve in a certain tank, but of course it is A LOT more complicated than that. To be as objective as possible I will exclude premium and reward vehicles from this list, and rely on global win rate as the main criterium. And opinions differ greatly from one person to another. More often than not it is our performance in a vehicle and against it, that determines our own opinion about its power level. Some people prefer Over Powered tanks while some like strange or terrible ones (it's about you Tog II fans). In addition, each level features a challenging mini-boss midway through the level and a final boss’s, all with their own intricate attack patterns. In addition, I found the level design and pacing to be incredibly engaging. Vibrant neon cityscapes, flooded streets, and dense jungles engulfed in flames made each level feel new and exciting. The pixel art of Steel Assault is stunning. Those looking for a more extreme challenge test their skill in the arcade mode, which increases the difficulty, removes checkpoints, and leaves the player with only one life to clear the game. There are some added options for accessibility with four difficulty levels providing an appropriate challenge for players of any skill level. This tool can be used for vertically, horizontally, or diagonally traversing stages, extending double jumps, and keeping Taro suspended and above ground for prime attacking opportunities. Melee combat takes the stage with an electrified whip, but as you become better versed with the abilities, the zipline becomes the real star of the show.
